In 2021 three candidates campaigned for one available seat on the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Commissioners. Republican organization incumbent Susan M. Kiley running to fill her expiring position was the winner. Challengers were Thomas Scarano running on the Monmouth County Conservative Republicans ticket, and Michael Beson who was selected by Monmouth County Democrats as their candidate for Commissioner.
